Tis nearly Christmas! A slightly shorter ride today. One excellent route from our Ride Sec and two (or was it three) groups formed for a blustery (but it was mild for December) ride through Charlton, Crudwell, Culkerton and Cherington. Finally a place that didn’t begin with a C - Tetbury - before the short way home through Shipton Moyne.
Our timing was perfect to assemble at Andy & Sue’s house at midday. There we met non riding members and friends and relatives too.
Our hosts had prepared an excellent buffet - thank you both! (Andy had ridden to Culkerton and then sped back home). The mulled wine (or rather the gluhwein - translated from German as 'Glow wine' 'cos of how it makes you feel!) was warming up it the kitchen and it certainly ‘felt a lot like Christmas’ as the song goes.
It was lovely to be able to spend a relaxed time together over the refreshments without having to rush back home after a normal club ride coffee stop.
Andy sent out the following message via WhatsApp later : -
“Thank you all for your kind wishes.
I just wanted to let you know that you generously donated £150 for the Air Ambulance today.
We will add £100 from club funds and ask Howard & Tim to deliver the cheque when the weather improves.
In the meantime may I thank them and all of you for your tremendous support, especially my four hardworking elves, Paul, Sian, David and Peter.
I hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and healthy new year.
I look forward to some sunny rides in 2024.
Best wishes, Andy ( & Sue xx).”
